    San-es Shokai founded by Tadao Yoshida in Higashi Nihonbashi, Tokyo; production and marketing of fastening products begins.
  • FEBRUARY 1938
    San-es Shokai renamed Yoshida Kogyosho.
  • FEBRUARY 1942
    Yoshida Kogyosho reorganized as a limited company.
  • MAY 1945
    Komatsugawa Plant burned down and dissolved for a time.
  • AUGUST 1945
    Yoshida Kogyosho purchased UozuTekkousho K.K. and renamed Yoshida Kogyo K.K.
  • JANUARY 1946
    YKK® registered as a trademark of Yoshida Kogyo K.K.
  • MARCH 1951
    Kurobe Plant commences operations in Kurobe City, Toyama Prefecture.
  • AUGUST 1958
    Headquarters relocated to AsakusaKaminarimon, Taito-ku, Tokyo.
  • NOVEMBER 1959
    Yoshida Kogyo K.K. establishes its first overseas affiliate and begins production and marketing of fastening products in New Zealand.

    Yoshida Kogyo K.K. begins production and marketing of aluminum building products.
  • JUNE 1963
    Yoshida Kogyo K.K. relocates headquarters to its current location, Kanda Izumi-cho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo.
  • APRIL 1972
    Shikoku Plant begins operations in Utazu-cho, Ayauta-gun, Kagawa Prefecture.
  • JUNE 1974
    Tohoku Plant begins operations in Sanbongi-cho, Shida-gun, Miyagi Prefecture.
  • FEBRUARY 1975
    Kyushu Plant begins operations in Yatsushiro City, Kumamoto Prefecture.
  • DECEMBER 1981
    Yoshida Kogyo K.K. introduces a new hook and loop fastener, Quicklon® (also called Cosmolon®).
  • MAY 1984
    Yoshida Kogyo K.K. celebrates its 50th anniversary.

    Yoshida Kogyo K.K. launches real estate operations in Singapore.
  • JANUARY 1985
    Yoshida Kogyo K.K. launches agricultural operations in Brazil.

    Yoshida Kogyo K.K. establishes its first overseas integrated plant in Indonesia; begins production of aluminum building products in Indonesia.

    Yoshida Kogyo K.K. renamed YKK Corporation.

    YKK Group establishes its Environmental Charter.
  • JANUARY 1996
    Policy Planning Committee toward China formed.

    YKK opens its Global Business Center in Shinjuku, Tokyo.
  • JULY 2000
    YKK establishes YKK Newmax Co., Ltd. as a principal company for its snaps and button business operations.
  • DECEMBER 2002
    YKK establishes its first machinery and engineering business company, the Suzhou YKK Machinery & Die Works Co., Ltd., in Suzhou, China.
  • FEBRUARY 2003
    YKK Fastening Products Sales Inc. established as a sales company for YKK's fastening business.
  • APRIL 2003
    YKK Business Support Inc. founded as the shared services center for YKK Group.
  • OCTOBER 2003
    YKK integrated its Architectural Products Manufacturing Group into YKK AP Inc. and begins the architectural products business of YKK Group as a complete organization.
  • JULY 2006
    YKK Tours launched by the YKK Group as an industrial tourism plant tour.
  • SEPTEMBER 2008
    YKK Center Park, a facility that is open to the general public, opened.
